WINCHESTER, Va. - The Old Dominion Athletic Conference Saturday announced seedings for the men's and women's lacrosse and baseball tournaments that all begin this week.
The men's lacrosse team, making the six-team tournament for the first time in program history, begins play on Tuesday at 4 when the No. 5 seeded Hornets travel to No. 4 Hampden-Sydney for a quarterfinal round contest.
Women's lacrosse returns to the ODAC Tournament as the No. 6 seed after a one-year absence and for the fourth time in five seasons of league play. Coach Lindsey Lutz' squad has a 6:00 Wednesday contest at third-seeded Roanoke.
Baseball is the top seed in its tournament for the fourth consecutive year and as such will be the home team throughout its stay in the tournament played at City Stadium in Lynchburg. Coach Kevin Anderson's club takes on No. 6 Roanoke on Friday at 11 a.m. in the first game of the tournament.
This is a change from originally scheduled. The start of the tournament has been delayed by 24 hours due weather concerns.
In the first meeting versus Hampden-Sydney, the Hornets dropped a 17-8 home decision on March 18.
Should SU down the Tigers, the Hornets would advance to play top-seeded Washington and Lee on Friday at W&L in the first game of the semi-finals.
Women's lax, which has won three straight by an aggregate score of 53-6, played Roanoke to a one-goal game in its ODAC opener on March 28. The squad is seeking its third trip to the ODAC semi-finals, where second-seeded Randolph-Macon awaits on Saturday at Watt Field on the Washington and Lee campus.
Baseball earned its top-seed for the fourth straight season season by splitting its Saturday doubleheader with Virginia Wesleyan. The Hornets face Roanoke, a team the squad swept on March 25, and has won seven of the last 10 against.
