WINCHESTER, Va. - Ten Shenandoah University student-athletes have been selected for induction into the Omicron Delta Kappa national leadership society in selections announced recently by the university.
Kayla Alderman, Rebecca Collimore, Jordon Edlund, Malik Henry, Jordan Hunter, Jacob Newton, Kayla O'Connell, Morgan Payne, Michael Plath and Jenna Rampale have all been picked for ODK and will be formally inducted Sunday, January 28 in Goodson Chapel.
The 10 represent seven sports: baseball, men's basketball, field hockey, football, men's golf, women's soccer and softball. Three of those honorees: Alderman, Payne and Rampale, come from the field hockey program.
These 10 are part a 30-person class to be inducted into ODK. In the past 10 years, 78 of the 217 students that have been selected for this honor society have been student-athletes.
The student-athlete inductees have a 3.77 average GPA with eight of the 10 at 3.5 or above. O'Connell leads this group with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
The honorees have earned total of 11 All-ODAC accolades.
All 10 student-athletes were nominated by either a faculty or staff member and after completing a one-page essay on leadership, were tapped for induction by an ODK selection committee.
