Softball Ninth in ODAC Poll

FOREST, Va. - The Shenandoah University softball team is picked to finish ninth in ODAC pre-season poll results released Thursday morning by the league office.

Shenandoah, looking for its second-ever ODAC Tournament appearance, has 18 points in the poll to finish five spots in front of No. 10 Bridgewater and nine back of eighth-place Eastern Mennonite.

Defending national champion Virginia Wesleyan is picked to win the ODAC again this spring. The Marlins have a perfect 81 points on nine first place votes.

Randolph-Macon is the runner-up selection with 66 points and Virginia Wesleyan's first place vote.

Voting was done on a 9-1 basis with coaches unable to vote for their own programs in the poll.

The top eight teams in the regular season standings advance to the ODAC Tournament.

Shenandoah opens its 2018 season on Saturday, February 17 at the Salem Invitational. The Hornets play Southern Virginia in addition to the host Spirits.
