Mehrer Posts School Record for Indoor T&F

LEXINGTON, Va. – The Shenandoah University indoor track & field teams posted an additional 19 ODAC qualifiers Saturday afternoon on day two of the VMI Winter Relays.

Junior Justin Mehrer led this group by breaking the school record in the mile run with a 4:22.55 to finish fourth overall.

He was the top DIII finisher by 6.5 seconds.

John Woodson was fourth among DIII runners in both the 200 meters, 23.05, and 400 meters, 52.24.

On the women's side, Sarah Mann was 16th overall, and third versus DIII, in the 3000 meters with an 11:12.28.

In the throws, Natalie Lepri had an 8.30 meter toss in the women's shot to finish 11th versus DIII competition with Bailey Hamilton one spot behind her.

The men and women combined for 18 personal bests, the 19 ODAC qualifying marks and Mehrer's school mark.

"We have worked hard all season and now it's the most important part of the season – championships time," head coach Andy Marrocco said.

"I believe we are ready to compete with the best in the ODAC."

Both squads are off next week and return to action on Sunday, February 25 in the ODAC Indoor Championships.
