WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Lindsey Lutz announced Wednesday her roster for the 2017-18 academic year.
Lutz, who led her Hornets into the ODAC Tournament semi-finals for the third time in five years of league play last spring, welcomes 10 new women forming the Class of 2021 into her program for the 2018 season.
These 10, representing Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey and Virginia, combine with 24 returnees from last year's seven-win team.
Half of the class: Payton Batchelder, Alyson Bittinger, Hayle Kyte, Natalie Malette and Macy Tignor, are Maryland natives. Julia Baum, Brenna Everette and Erin Hoover are from Virginia with Mallory Gurin hailing from Westfield, Indiana and Megan Egan from Brick, New Jersey.
Gurin backstops the class from her goalkeeper position with Baum a defender, Bittinger, Egan, Everette and Kyte midfielders and Batchelder, Hoover, Malette and Tignor playing attack.
"I want to thank my full-time assistant, Maggie Taghon, for her help bringing in this group," Lutz said.
"We worked hard at recruiting and it paid off with a big class. I am looking forward to seeing this talented group compete with our current players for playing time. We should have a very intense fall non-traditional season."
The 2018 schedule for this group will be announced later this summer.
