WINCHESTER, Va. – Junior Shannen de Leon is in her first year of blogging about the women's soccer program. This week, she discusses their Wednesday trip to Bridgewater

As I am writing this blog post, we are on our way home from Bridgewater. We did not come out strong and we let an early goal in the first half. With 17 minutes left in the half, the referees blew the whistle and directed us off the field because of lightning. This gave us a chance to rest and figure out what we needed to do to get back in the game.

Ed. Note: It was a 30-minute delay in the game.

The rain cleared and we got back on the field. We rallied and fought. Becky (Rebecca Collimore) found the back of the net midway through the second half. Unfortunately, the Eagles answered back and we couldn't produce another goal, ending the game with a 2-1 loss. We played very well though and the score did not reflect our performance. Pike was pleased with us! HAPPY WIFE, HAPPY LIFE! Lol.

We have a big weekend ahead. It's Homecoming weekend and we're facing Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday. It will be a tough game, no doubt. Liz (Liz Keefer) has recently been cleared from her concussion and we're happy to have her back with us. Sara Fuller is pushing through her injury and Spaz (Alison Spaziani) is still trying to figure out what's wrong with her bum ankle- haha. We're putting this loss  behind us and are focusing on the Marlins.
