NEW ORLEANS, La. — For the 10th straight season, the Shenandoah University women's cross country team earned USTFCCA All-Academic honors in selections announced recently by the organization.
The nine-woman squad posted a 3.47 team GPA this fall with five of the nine better than 3.4 and one, junior Alexandria Caljean, posting a perfect 4.0 GPA.
The GPA is the highest in coach Andy Marrocco's 12-year tenure.
To qualify for the honor, the team must have at least a 3.1 GPA on a 4.0 scale in the semester of competition. The Hornets 3.47 average GPA is second best of the the seven ODAC teams earning the honor.
"I am once again very proud of our academic success," Marrocco said. "We have made this is a priority in our program and we have set the bar even higher with this performance."
The SU women finished fifth at the ODAC championships this past fall and were 20th at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional in November.
Shenandoah opens up its 2018 schedule at the Sea Gull Opener hosted by Salisbury University on September 1.
