Profs End Hornets Softball Season

SALISBURY, Md. – Second-seeded Rowan University ended Shenandoah University's softball season Sunday morning with an 8-1 elimination game victory over the Hornets.

The Profs (31-12) scored three runs in the first and two more in the fourth to chase SU starter Brooke Over (23-9) four batters into the fourth.

Over, who set new program records for wins and strikeouts in a season this year, allowed five runs on four hits and two walks in 3 1/3.

Sophomore Jordan Wolford pitched 1.0 innings before Misty Judd took over after Rowan scored three runs in the fifth.

Shenandoah (32-17) scored its lone run in the third when sophomore Lauren McCabe led off with a triple to right and came home on a one-out Jolisa Jones single to right.

The Hornets had one last chance to get back into the game in the fourth, loading the bases with two outs, but Profs pitcher Jamie Minix (15-6) induced Catherine Pruiett into a fielder's choice groundout right in front of the plate to end the inning.

Minix allowed the one run on six hits and three walks in 6.0 innings of work. Erika Knorr recorded the final three outs for Rowan.

McCabe had two of Shenandoah's six hits.

The loss ends the most successful softball season in school history.
