WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Shenandoah University softball team completed a busy weekend of action with a non-league sweep at Catholic University of America Sunday afternoon.
Shenandoah (17-10) won game one 6-0 before finishing off the sweep over the Cardinals (13-11) with 4-0 victory in the nightcap.
SU pitchers Brooke Over (8-7) and Amanda Litwin (4-2) both threw complete-game three-hitters.
Over struck out nine and walked five in her game one outing while Litwin had three strikeouts against four walks in game two.
Coach Marlena Kotynski's club banged out a combined 23 hits in the doubleheader, including 15 in game one.
Denise Mitchell was 4 for 5 and Emily Wilson 3 for 4 in game one with Mitchell scoring what proved to be the game-winning run.
Shatora Lane also had two hits in the first contest.
Wilson had the big hit in game two with a two-run single in the fourth.
Heather Sink, who drove in the first run of the nightcap, was 2 for 4.
Mitchell finished her solid day with one hit in three plate appearances.
Shenandoah hosts Ferrum on Tuesday in a USA South Conference doubleheader.
