BURLINGTON, N.C. – Senior Brooke Over tossed a three-hit shutout Friday afternoon to help Shenandoah University to 3-0 elimination game victory over Peace College at the 2012 USA South Conference Softball Tournament.

Over (11-11) struck out six and walked just two in pushing the Hornets (21-16) past the Pacers (16-22).

SU advances into the next elimination round, where it will meet Meredith at 10 a.m. Saturday morning.

Sophomore Morgan Coble gave Over all of the offense she would need by plating Denise Mitchell with a single to center in the bottom of the first.

Mitchell had reached on a shallow single to left.

Peace had runners reach base in five of seven at-bats, but Over did not allow a runner to reach third and retired 10 of the final 11 batters she faced.

Mitchell had two of the Hornets six hits.
