Maroons Sweep Softball

SALEM, Va. - No. 16 Roanoke College continued its winning ways with a ODAC doubleheader sweep over Shenandoah University Saturday afternoon at the Moyer Complex.

The Maroons (20-5, 8-0 ODAC) completed the sweep by winning game two 3-2 after emerging victorious 8-6 in the opener.

Shenandoah (16-14, 6-8) stranded the tying run at third base in the nightcap.

SU was held to four hits in game two, one each by Kimberly Brady, Heather Sink, Lauren McCabe and Lizzy Martin.

Brady drove in a run with a solo shot in the fourth.

Freshman Megan Tripp (5-5) took the loss after allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and one walk in 6.0 innings.

The Hornets had a 5-1 lead in the opener thanks to three runs in the first and two more in the second only to see RC rally with a six-spot in the fourth.

The two teams split 20 hits in game one with Brittany Guepe, Denise Mitchell and Brady all getting two each.

Morgan Coble finished with a pair of RBI - she had a two-run single in the second.

Amanda Litwin (0-3), who came on in relief of Stephanie Cameron in the middle of that fourth-inning rally, took the loss. She gave up two runs on three hits and one walk in 1.0 innings of work.

Shenandoah travels to Stevenson on Wednesday for a non-league doubleheader.
