LYNCHBURG, Va. - Host Lynchburg College opened its 2014 ODAC season with a doubleheader sweep of Shenandoah University Sunday afternoon.
Lynchburg (12-4, 2-0 ODAC) was a 3-2 winner in the opener before completing the sweep with a 7-1 game two victory over SU (1-10, 0-4).
LC scored one run in the third and two in the fourth inning of game one but then had to hold on as Shenandoah scored one in the fifth and another in the seventh.
Freshman Lindsay Corbin accounted for both game one runs, hitting solo home runs to left and right center in the fifth and seventh, respectively.
Corbin had two of her team's six hits in the game with Heather Sink adding two and both Morgan Coble and Kimberly Brady one each.
Corbin (0-4) took the loss, allowing the three runs on eight hits and one walk.
She struck out one as well.
The hosts scored the initial seven runs of the nightcap, including two runs in the first, fourth and fifth, to help secure the sweep.
Sink and Haley Koeninger both had two hits in this contest with Corbin driving in one run as connected for her third dinger of the day with a sixth inning solo shot.
Corbin has all four of her squad's home runs this season.
Shenandoah is back in action on Friday with a non-league doubleheader against Penn St. - Altoona.
