Frostburg Rallies Past Softball

WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Frostburg State rallied for a rain-shortened 10-4 non-league softball victory over Shenandoah Sunday afternoon.

The game, which was played through a steady rain, was halted in the top of the sixth when the field became unplayable.

The second game of the doubleheader was cancelled.

Shenandoah (1-4) jumped in front 4-0 thanks to a four-run second highlighted by the first career home run from freshman Lindsay Corbin.

Corbin led off the SU second with a solo shot to center.

Pitcher Megan Tripp (1-2) followed with an RBI single to score Erica Kondzielawa and later scored an unearned run to complete the inning.

Brittany Guepe, who reached on a single through the left side, scored the Hornets remaining run in the frame.

Frostburg (1-2) answered with four runs in the fourth before taking the lead for good on a single run in the fifth.

Allison Williams brought Hannah Tavik home with the winning run on a fielder's choice. Tavik had reached on a single up the middle.

Tavik (1-1) earned the win after giving up the four runs (two earned) on four hits and five walks in 5.0 innings.

She struck out two.
