LYNCHBURG, Va. - Host Lynchburg College banged out a combined 20 hits in sweeping an ODAC softball doubleheader from Shenandoah Monday afternoon.
Lynchburg (6-2, 2-0 ODAC) was an 11-3 victor in game one before taking game two 15-0.
Both games were halted after five innings due to the NCAA mercy rule.
Sophomore Lindsay Corbin gave SU (0-4, 0-2) the early lead in the opener with a two-run HR in the top of the first, but LC answered with two runs in the third.
After the two teams traded single runs in the fourth, with Shenandoah scoring its run on a Cassie Green RBI double, Lynchburg scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth to end the game after five.
Junior Megan Tripp (0-2) took the loss after allowing nine runs (seven earned) on six hits and four walks in 4.0 innings of work.
Corbin led a five-hit SU attack with a 2 for 2 performance that included the 2-run HR.
Lynchburg scored 10 runs in the first inning of game two and held Shenandoah without a hit in completing the sweep.
Corbin (0-2) was the game two loser after allowing 10 runs on seven hits and four walks in 1 2/3 innings of work.
Shenandoah is back in action on Friday versus Allegheny in the first game of the Roanoke Bash.
