BREVARD, N.C. – The Shenandoah University softball team ran its winning streak to six games Thursday afternoon by sweeping a non-league doubleheader at Brevard College.
Shenandoah (8-7) was a 6-5 winner in the opener before taking the nightcap, 6-0, in five innings over the Tornados (8-11).
GAME ONE
Trailing 4-3 in the sixth, Shenandoah scored three runs on four hits to rally for the victory.
BayLee Jenkins tied the game on an RBI double to left to score Carrie Robinson before Autumn Beasley put SU on top to stay with a single through the left side to bring home pinch runner Taylor Glover.
Jenna Barr had the final RBI of the frame on a single to left to score Sierra Beaty. Beaty had reached on an infield single and moved to third on Beasley's hit.
Jenkins was 3-for-4 with Barr, Beaty and Meghan Stout all getting two hits each.
Megan Scalley (1-2) was the winner in relief. She allowed two runs on seven hits and one walk against two strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings.
GAME TWO
Shenandoah ended game two early by scoring three runs in the second, three more in the fourth, one in the fifth and two in the sixth.
The Hornets had 12 hits in the win with Morgan Henley going 3-for-4 with a run scored and Robinson, Beaty and Beasley adding two hits each.
Robinson (5-2) went the distance, scattering two hits and one walk against six strikeouts to earn her third victory of the week. Her two hits included a two-run triple in the second.
Henley drove in the decisive eighth run of the game on a single in the top of the sixth.

Shenandoah hosts Eastern Mennonite on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in an ODAC doubleheader.
