WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University men's tennis team fought hard in an 8-1 non-league loss to Juniata College Saturday evening.
The Hornets (0-2) fell behind 2-1 after doubles, winning 8-4 at No. 1, before Juniata (3-1) swept the singles to take the victory.
IN BRIEF
Darian Diaz and Aiden Steinly had the doubles win at No. 1 and both took their singles matches the distance.
Diaz won the opening set at No. 1, 6-2, before falling 6-1, 6-4, while Steinly lost a heartbreaker at No. 2.
The freshman went to a tiebreak in the first, dropping the set 6-7 (3-7) and then saw Xavier Huerta edge him 7-5 in the second.
The remaining four singles matches went in straight sets.
