WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University softball team extended its winning streak to seven games by sweeping a non-league doubleheader from Mary Washington Thursday afternoon.

Shenandoah (7-5) was a 9-6 winner in the opener before taking the nightcap, 3-1, over the Eagles (8-8-1).
GAME ONE RECAP
The Hornets jumped on UMW for five runs on three hits in the first with
Nikki Stone,
Meghan Stout and
Arlene Miller all driving in runs.

Miller had the big blow with a two-out double down the left field line to bring home Stout and
Sierra Beaty.
Â
Shenandoah added three more runs in the third and one in the fifth to keep the Eagles at bay.

Morgan Henley had a two-run single in the third and
BayLee Jenkins an RBI single in the fifth to help fuel the offense.

Hornets starter
Megan Scalley (4-3) went the distance, allowing six runs (three earned) on six hits and six walks while striking out seven.

Stone and Sammie Amateau both had two hits in the win.
GAME TWO RECAP
Henley (4-2) tossed a six-hitter to help SU finish off the sweep with the 3-1 win.

UMW scored its lone run in the first and Henley kept them off the board after that, striking out one against just one walk.
Â
Beaty tied the game at 1-1 with an RBI single up the middle in the second and Jenkins drove in the eventual winning run on a groundout to second in the third.

In the fifth,
Madison Clark made it 3-1 with an RBI single to center. She plated Amateau, who had led off with an infield single.

Amateau and Stout each had three hits.
