SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. – The Shenandoah University men's tennis team earned its second win of the week Friday afternoon with a 4-3 victory over DII Shepherd University.

Shenandoah (2-0) took to the road to earn the win over the Rams (0-1).

The top of the SU lineup fueled the triumph as the Hornets swept the top two doubles and top three singles matches.

Vitali Rivera, Shenandoah's No. 1 doubles team and Nos. 1 and 2 singles players, respectively, were double winners for Coach
Jason Cole.

In doubles, they put SU up 1-0 with a 6-2 victory over Evan Dokken and Kaleb Lochner after
Darian Diaz and
Aidan Steinly had posted the Hornets first point with a 7-6 victory at No. 2.*

Rivera, with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles, and Diaz, 7-5, 6-3 at No. 3, put Shenandoah one win from the match-clinching victory.

Orr came through, taking out Dokken, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 1 to give SU its second straight victory.

Shepherd won two of the remaining three singles matches in straight sets. At No. 4, Steinly fell 2-6, 6-2, 2-6.

Shenandoah opens its ODAC slate next Saturday with a 1 p.m. home match versus Emory & Henry.
*The match was scored using the Division II rules. The three doubles matches count as one point and the set was played to six with no-ad scoring.
