WINCHESTER, Va. – Visiting University of Lynchburg won the Battle of the ODAC Softball Hornets by sweeping a league doubleheader from Shenandoah Saturday afternoon.

Lynchburg (11-7, 3-1 ODAC) was a 2-1 victor in the opener before completing the sweep over SU (3-7, 0-2) with a 6-1 win in the nightcap.
GAME ONE
Lynchburg scored two unearned runs in the fourth and held Shenandoah to just two hits in the 2-1 victory.

SU had the tying run in scoring position with one out in the seventh only to see Lynchburg turn to 2019 NCAA Division III saves champion Kayley Cox to try and secure the victory.

The senior did just that, inducing a groundout and a flyout around a walk to end the SU threat.

Sammy Amateau and
Taylor Glover had Shenandoah's two hits.

Megan Scalley (1-4) took the hard-luck loss after allowing the two unearned runs on seven hits and three walks in 7.0 innings. She also struck out four.
GAME TWO
One run in the first, combined with two in the second, proved to be too much for Shenandoah to overcome in the 6-1 game two loss.

Lynchburg broke open the 3-1 game with a three-run seventh.

Shenandoah had six hits, but committed four errors that led to half of Lynchburg's runs being unearned.

Kayla Stephenson (2-2) gave up the six runs (three earned) on eight hits and two walks in 6 1/3 innings. She struck out three before turning it over to
Morgan Henley for the final two outs.

Allie Schey and
Tiffany Bower both had two hits with
BayLee Jenkins driving in Schey for the hosts' lone run of the nightcap.
