VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Shenandoah University men's tennis team suffered its first loss of the 2021 season Saturday in a 9-0 ODAC defeat at Virginia Wesleyan.

The Marlins (3-3, 2-1 ODAC) was dominant in the singles after sweeping the three doubles matches over Shenandoah (4-1, 2-1).

VWU dropped just three games combined in five of the six singles matches; the hosts won at love at Nos. 2, 4, and 6.

The closest match came at No. 3 singles where
Darian Diaz fell in three sets. Diaz won the first set at love before his opponent, Anthony Wilson, was a 6-1 winner in the second. Wilson then edged Diaz, 10-8, in the third set tie-break to finish off the sweep.

Keith Orr and
Vitali Rivera fell 8-5.Â
