Hornets Dominate Randolph in Shutout Victory

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University wrestling team closed out its home slate of duals with a dominant 55-0 victory over Randolph College. The Hornets (4-8, 2-4) won all five contested matches while securing forfeit victories in the remaining five weight classes.

Shenandoah picked up wins from Heath Burks by a 10-9 decision, Sean Rinebolt by major decision (16-4), and Hunter Ballantine, Cannon Long, and Rives Hargis, who each won by fall.

The victory marks the first for interim head coach Alex Reeves and the second shutout win in program history. It is also the first shutout victory in conference competition.

  • 149 pounds – Hunter Ballantine (Shenandoah) defeats Noah Williams (Randolph) by fall (1:33).
  • 157 pounds – Cannon Long (Shenandoah) defeats Jordan Nutter (Randolph) by fall (4:25).
  • 165 pounds – Jalen Cornelius (Shenandoah) wins by forfeit.
  • 174 pounds – Dylan Weaver (Shenandoah) wins by forfeit.
  • 184 pounds – Dylan Weigert (Shenandoah) wins by forfeit.
  • 197 pounds – Robert Keener (Shenandoah) wins by forfeit.
  • 285 pounds – Rives Hargis (Shenandoah) defeats Thomas Head (Randolph) by fall (1:21).

The Hornets have a quick turnaround as they travel to North Carolina for their final dual of the season against Greensboro College. The match is scheduled for tomorrow at 3 p.m.
