Women's Golf Hosts First Round of Fall Invitational

CAPON BRIDGE, W.V. - The Shenandoah University women's golf team began its 2026-27 season with the first round of the Shenandoah Fall Invitational at Cacapon Resort State Park on Saturday. The Hornets scored a 353 (+65) as a team on Saturday.

Sophomore Gaby Frick leads the way for the Hornets with an 85 (+13) after day one, giving her a share of 38th heading into the final round. Frick started her season with a par on hole one, then made another one on the eighth hole. On the back nine, Frick made a team-best four pars.

Sophia Hansen and Carley Westmoreland are both tied for 59th with an 89 (+17). Hansen pared the two par-three holes on the front nine and then pared the two par-fives on the back nine, along with a par on the par-four hole 14. For Westmoreland, she made a total of six pars, three on either side of the course. 

Alexa Strohman rounded out the team scoring on Saturday as she sits tied for 67th with a 90 (+18). Strohman was able to make the only birdie of the round for the Hornets with a three on the par-four, 348-yard hole five.

Amanda Dasher is 83rd following the first day of play with a 100 (+28). The senior sank pars on hole five and 14 during her round.

First-year Sofia Bogaty is playing as an individual and is in 86th with a 104 (+32). Bogaty had consecutive pars at holes four and five, and added two additional pars on the back nine.

Susquehanna currently leads all teams at the tournament with a team score of 311 (+23). 

UP NEXT

The tournament concludes on Sunday with round two. Frick is the first Hornet scheduled to tee off, which is slated for 8:30 a.m.
