Women's Golf in Fifth Following First Round

HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's golf team is in fifth after the first day of the Bridgewater College Invitational at Lakeview Golf Course. The Hornets shot a 359 (+67) as a team on day one at the 5,859-yard, par-73 course on Monday.

Three Hornets are inside the top 30 at the tournament, starting with Sophia Hansen, who is tied for 23rd. Hansen recorded an 87 (+14) for her first round with seven total pars, including four on the front nine.

Gaby Frick is tied for 27th, sitting one stroke behind Hansen at 88 (+15). Frick had two pars on the front nine and added three more on the back.

Carkley Westmoreland rounds out the Hornets' top-30 performers, as she sits in 30th with an 89 (+16). Westmoreland had three consecutive pars on holes two through four. She'd add two more pars throughout her round.

Alexa Strohman matched Westmoreland with three consecutive pars, with hers coming on holes eight through ten. Strohman ended the round tied for 35th with a 95 (+22). 

Amanda Dasher scored a 103 (+30) on Monday, landing three pars, including back-to-back pars on holes seven and eight.

UP NEXT

Shenandoah plays the final round of the tournament tomorrow.
