Women's Golf Remains in Fifth to Conclude Bridgewater Tournament

HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's golf team stayed steady on Tuesday and remained in fifth place at the Bridgewater College Invitational, finishing the tournament with a team score of 714 (+130). 

The Hornets scored a 355 (+63) for the second and final round, improving by four strokes from their first-round score.

Gaby Frick had the best overall score and second-round score for Shenandoah. The sophomore scored an 85 (+12) on Tuesday, ending the tournament with a 173 (+27) to tie for 19th. Frick started on hole eight and made six pars throughout the round, avoiding double-bogey or worse on the scorecard.

Amanda Dasher improved 14 strokes on Tuesday, carding an 89 (+16) for round two. She had two birdies, which came at holes two and eight, after starting on hole five. The senior concluded the invitational with a 192 (+46) and tied for 34th.

Carley Westmoreland recorded a 90 (+17) on Tuesday, tying for 26th at the tournament with a total score of 179 (+33). Her best golf on Tuesday came on the back nine, where she had a birdie on hole 14 and mixed in two pars.

Alexa Strohman rounded out the team scoring on Tuesday with a score of 91 (+18), helped out by birdies on holes eight and nine, with her round starting at hole nine. She finished the tournament tied for 32nd at 186 (+40).

Sophia Hansen tied with Westmoreland at the tournament with a 179 (+33) after recording a 92 (+19) for round two. Hansen made five pars and landed a birdie on hole 11 for her second round.

Southern Virginia University finished the tournament in first place. ODAC foes Bridgewater and Roanoke College were in fourth and sixth place, respectively.

Shenandoah heads to Sewells Point Golf Course in Ruthhaven, Virginia, for the Anita Hopson Invitational, hosted by Batten University, next Monday and Tuesday.
