Men's Golf Places Sixth at Cardinal Classic

HAGERSTOWN, Md. - The Shenandoah University men's golf 'B' team finished sixth at Catholic's Cardinal Fall Classic at Black Rock Golf Course, finishing the two-round tournament with a team score of 619 (+43). The Hornets shot a 308 (+20) on Sunday for a three-stroke improvement compared to round one.

Davis Hutchins, playing as an individual, took seventh at the tournament with a two-round score of 150 (+6), carding a 76 (+4) on Sunday. Hutchins started on hole 16 and made 12 pars throughout the day, with a lone birdie on hole four.

Maddox Mallard had the next best placement for the Hornets, finishing tied for 11th. The junior shot a 152 (+8) on the weekend with a 74 (+2) on Sunday's scorecard, which was helped out by a one-under showing through his first eight holes of the day.

First-year Ashton Shifflett finished his first career tournament in a share of 17th, while playing as an individual, scoring a 153 (+9). He carded a 78 (+6) on Sunday with 12 pars. 

Senior David Mann finished with a two-day total of 155 (+11).  Mann tied for 21st after recording a 79 (+7) for the final round, matching Shifflett's total of 12 pars on the day.

Louie Maniacci concluded his weekend one stroke behind Mann with a 156 (+12), as he played consistent golf with a 78 (+6) on both days of the tournament. Maniacci sank a birdie on hole three and added 11 pars throughout the rest of the round.

Brian Slaughter tied for 27th at 157 (+13). The junior shot a 77 (+5) on Sunday, improving by three strokes from day one. 

Connor Reinhard shot an 80 (+8) for round two, bringing his two-day total to 159 (+15), as he tied for 32nd.

The final individual on the course for SU was Seth Curry, and he tied for 40th with a total score of 163 (+19). He shot an 82 (+10) on Sunday with a birdie on hole 14 along the way.

Shenandoah's 'A' team is headed to the West Pines Collegiate in Atlanta, Georgia on October 5-6.
