Dr. Noelle Haller is an accomplished and dedicated athletic trainer that joined Shenandoah in February, 2023, where she plays a pivotal role in ensuring the health and performance of the university’s student-athletes. With extensive experience in athletic training, a strong academic background, and a commitment to holistic care, Dr. Haller is a key member of Shenandoah's athletic department.
Dr. Haller earned her Doctorate in Athletic Training from Indiana State University, where she completed research on the mental health of the healthcare provider when involved in urgent or emergent care. This has since been published and is titled "Impact and Experiences Relative to Critical Incidents and Critical Incident Stress Management." During her time as a graduate assistant at ISU, she worked as an outreach athletic trainer at local area high schools as well as on an as needed basis for the local Division III college. Dr. Haller holds a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training with a minor in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina, graduating cum laude from the CAATE Accredited Program.
In her role at Shenandoah University, Dr. Haller provides primary clinic and practice/event coverage for multiple teams, including Field Hockey, Wrestling, Men's and Women's Tennis, and Softball. Her responsibilities extend beyond clinical care as she also serves as a preceptor and adjunct faculty member for the Master’s in Athletic Training Program. Dr. Haller brings her expertise to the classroom as the primary instructor for Imaging, Casting, and Bracing of Orthopedic Injuries. Additionally, she organizes a work-study program for undergraduate students interested in pursuing careers in athletic training or associated healthcare professions.
Before joining Shenandoah University, Dr. Haller served as a Clinical Athletic Trainer at VCU Health System, where she managed clinic tasks for a high-volume orthopedic surgeon and assisted with various examinations, procedures, and treatments. Her experience includes coordinating care for secondary school athletes, providing athletic training services at NCAA Division III colleges, and integrating evidence-based practices in her evaluations and treatment plans.
Dr. Haller has been actively involved in professional development and has presented her research at several prestigious conferences, including the NATA Clinical Symposia & AT Expo and the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers’ Association Student Symposium. Her presentations have covered topics such as mental health concerns in secondary school athletes and critical incident stress management.
Dr. Haller is committed to serving her community and has volunteered her expertise at events like the Richmond Marathon and as a per diem athletic trainer for the Virginia Valley Vipers professional basketball team. In these roles, she has provided urgent and emergent care, evaluated and treated orthopedic injuries, and administered first aid to a large number of patients.
