The Shenandoah University volleyball program entered a new era in March, 2019 with the addition of Kent Clayberg as its new head coach.
Clayberg is the fifth full-time head coach in program history.Â
Clayberg comes to Shenandoah with an impressive resume, having won 290 matches as the head coach at Central (Iowa) from 2003 through 2017. In his tenure as head coach, the Dutch won five Iowa Conference titles while making four NCAA Division III Tournament appearances.Â
He was the Iowa Conference Coach of the Year in 2003, 2005 and 2007.
Prior to his head coaching experience, the 1990 Central graduate was an assistant coach at his alma mater from 1998 through 2002. In that time, Central won three Division III national championships, five Iowa Conference titles and an appeared in the NCAA Tournament four additional times.Â
Off the court, his squads were honored for a national record 17 conference years with the AVCA Team Academic Award and 112 players earned conference All-Academic accolades.
Following his departure from Central, Clayberg served as an assistant at DI Charleston Southern University before going into private business. Â
