ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The women's basketball team evened its Dixie Conference record at 2-2 Saturday afternoon as the Hornets came back to defeat NC Wesleyan 74-61.

SU (6-5, 2-2) shot just 22 percent (6 for 27) in the first half as the Bishops (1-9, 1-3) took a 31-26 lead into the lockerroom. Shenandoah completely turned it around in the second; they shot 15 for 26 (57.7 percent) from the field to cruise to the 13-point victory.

Freshman Heather Wright (Bunker Hill, W. Va./Musselman) and sophomore Jenny Gray (Sumerduck, Va./Liberty) kept Shenandoah in it with eight and six points, respectively, in the first and also figured prominently following the intermission.

Gray scored eight points and dished out six of her game high eight assists in the final 20 minutes, while Wright added another four points and six rebounds.

This output, combined with 24 points and six steals from freshman Dee Fisher (Arlington, Va./Wakefield), sealed the Hornets victory.

SU took the lead for the first time midway though the second half and steadily built upon its lead, which grew to as many as 14 points in the waning moments.

Staci Humphrey led the hosts with a game high 29 points and Kendra Brewer pulled down 10 boards.
