FERRUM, Va. - The SU women's soccer team used a second half goal Wednesday afternoon to salvage a 1-1 tie with USA South opponent Ferrum College.

Shenandoah (6-5-1 overall, 2-3-1 USA South) got a goal from freshman Leanne Gibson (Woodbury, N.J./West Deptford) in the 62nd minute to knot the game at 1.

Gibson's goal, her co-team leading fifth of the season, proved to be the final goal of the contest.

FC (2-10-2, 0-4-1) and the Hornets played the final 28 minutes of regulation and 20 minutes of sudden death overtime after Gibson's tally without finding the back of the net. This is the second time in past five meetings at Ferrum that the Lady Panthers and Shenandoah have been unable to determine a winner. The 1995 contest ended in a scoreless tie.
