NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Junior Luis Collantes had three goals Tuesday night, but it was not enough as Christopher Newport University took a 4-3 USA South Conference victory over visiting Shenandoah.

Shenandoah (3-4-2, 2-2) took the early lead when Collantes (Alexandria, Va./TC Williams) ripped a free kick from 35 yards out just 2:42 into the game.

CNU (8-2-1, 4-0) answered back with goals in the 40th, 42nd and 44th minutes to enter halftime with a 3-1 lead, but Collantes nailed another free kick in the 57th minute to bring the visitors back within one.

After the Captains scored an unassisted goal two minutes after Collantes second tally, the two teams held each other in check until SU was awarded a penalty kick with just over seven minutes remaining.

Collantes converted on this PK to make the score 4-3 CNU, but the Hornets were denied a second straight victory over CNU when the Captains held Shenandoah without a significant scoring opportunity the rest of the way.
