LEXINGTON, Va. - The volleyball team opened play Friday at the Washington & Lee Tournament with a 3-0 losses to Averett and host W&L.; 

Shenandoah (2-7) lost 30-14, 30-12, 30-22 to USA South power Averett in the first match of the evening and then fell 30-21, 30-18, 30-21 to the Lady Generals in the nightcap. 

Junior Hannah Williams (Salem, Va./Glenvar) led the Hornets with a combined 14 kills and 16 digs while sophomore Jenny Gray (Sumerduck, Va./Liberty) added 10 kills and 23 digs. Gray had a game high 15 digs in the Averett match. 

Senior Lesley Beard (Youngstown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch) also played well; she had 23 assists to go along with 19 digs.
