WASHINGTON, D.C. - The SU men's soccer team won its second straight game Monday afternoon as the Hornets upended Catholic University 3-2.
Shenandoah (2-2-1) got two first half goals from Akmed Mansaray (Alexandria, Va./TC Williams) to take the early lead before junior Luis Collantes (Alexandria, Va./TC Williams) netted what proved to be the game winner in the 75th minute.
Collantes converted on a penalty kick; SU was awarded the try after senior Jesse Fullerton (Catharpin, Va./Stonewall Jackson) was taken down inside the 18-yard box.
Collantes wasted no time and buried his shot in the back of the net for his third goal of the season.
Sophomore Chris Peter (Chantilly, Va./Northern Va CC) made eight saves to earn the victory in goal. One of the two goals he gave up was on a penalty kick.
Keith Cappo had both goals for Catholic (0-1-2).
