FREDERICK, Md. - The SU women's soccer team moved above the .500 mark for the first time in four seasons Wednesday afternoon with a 1-0 overtime victory over Hood College.

Senior Lisa Cantore (Earlysville, Va./Albermarle) converted a through pass from classmate Jill Erb (Reisterstown, Md./Western Tech) in the final minute of the first overtime to give Shenandoah (3-2) the hard fought victory.

The Hornets dominated the match; SU outshot Hood (1-5) 41-14, but could not find the back of the net until Cantore's 100th minute tally.

Shenandoah matches last season's win total with the triumph and also finds itself over the .500 mark for the first time since defeating Greensboro College 1-0 on October 2, 1999.

Freshman keeper Megan Ross (Harrisburg, Pa./Upper Dauphin) made six saves in earning her second consecutive shutout.

A complete box score can be found at http://www.su.edu/athletics/wsoc/2003/091703.htm

Shenandoah is scheduled to host NC Wesleyan Saturday afternoon at 1:00 in both teams USA South Conference opener, but the status of this game is in doubt due to Hurricane Isabel. Please check the SU web site on Friday for further updates on this contest.
