STAUNTON, Va. - The SU volleyball team won its second match in three days Wednesday evening as the Hornets defeated Mary Baldwin 3-1 (30-15, 30-12, 27-30, 30-18).
Shenandoah (4-9) cruised through games one and two before MBC (3-5) came back to prevent the sweep with a three-point victory in game three.
Sophomore Jenny Gray (Sumerduck, Va./Liberty) and junior Hannah Williams (Salem, Va./Glenvar) were once again the story offensively with 17 and 15 kills, respectively. Gray also had a team high 13 digs while Williams added 11 and senior Lesley Beard (Youngstown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch) 10.
Beard also had a season high 39 assists in the win.
A final player, freshman Meagnne Kelley (Verona, Va./Fort Defiance), made her return to the central Shenandoah Valley a positive one by chipping in a game-high eight service aces.Â

Shenandoah is scheduled to travel to Raleigh, N.C. on Saturday to take on Peace and Greensboro colleges in the first USA South tri-match of the season but the status of this event is up in the air due to Hurricane Isabel. Please check the SU web site for further updates on this match.
