WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's soccer team could not extend its two game winning streak as the Hornets fell, 4-0, to USA South foe N.C. Wesleyan on family weekend at SU in front of a season-high attendance of 159 fans.

With the loss, Shenandoah falls to 3-3 on the season and 0-1 in conference play while the Battling Bishops earned their first win of 2003 to improve to 1-6 overall and 1-0 in the league.

Following a docile first half that saw each team take only three shots, the Bishops broke the ice when sophomore Rachael Stansbury (Goldsboro, N.C.) found freshman April Wheeler (Baltimore, Md.) for the go-ahead score in the 60th minute.

Stansbury would soon add a pair of goals of her own and Wheeler notched her second score of the day in the 67th minute with a penalty kick to close out the scoring.

Sophomore goalkeeper Megan Ross (Harrisburg, Penn./HACC) made six saves during her 90 minutes of work in the Hornets' loss.

Shenandoah returns to action Thursday when the Hornets travel to Hollins University; kickoff is slated for 4:00 PM.
