RALEIGH, N.C. - The women's basketball team could not push their recent winning streak to three games as USA South opponent Peace College handed the Hornets a 63-47 loss in the first conference game of the season for SU.

Shenandoah (2-7 overall, 0-1 USA South) took control early on with an 8-3 run to start the game, but the Pride (7-3, 3-3) gathered themselves for a 20-8 run and never looked back.

Following an intermission that left the Hornets down 32-19, SU came out firing with a pair of quick baskets from sophomore Joia Davis (Trenton, N.J./Stuart Co.) and junior Jenny Gray (Sumerduck, Va./Liberty). Unfortunately for the Hornets, the well ran dry and SU would not manage another field goal until the 13:28 mark.

In the meantime, the Pride was firing on all cylinders and cruised to the 16-point victory.

Shenandoah was led by freshman Alicia Sanders (Wardensville, W.Va./East Hardy) who came off the bench for 13 points and was the only Hornets' player to register double figures in scoring.

Shenandoah returns to action when the Hornets travel to USA South rival Christopher Newport on January 14th. Tip-off is slated for 5:30.
