FERRUM, Va. - The Ferrum College women scored the first nine points of the second half to erase a six-point halftime deficit and key a 66-60 USA South Conference victory over visiting Shenandoah Monday afternoon.

Shenandoah (4-10, 2-4) led 30-24 at halftime, but FC (9-6, 5-1) scored on four of its first five shots of the second to take a 33-32 lead with 17:53 remaining.

After the two teams then traded baskets, neither was able to score again until Shermika Harris hit a jumper at the 14:15 mark to put the Lady Panthers ahead 37-34.

Ferrum expanded its lead to as many as seven before the Hornets went on a 9-0 run of their own to retake the lead with 7:50 left on a three-pointer by Dee Fisher (Arlington, Va./Wakefield). Unfortunately for the visitors, this lead would only last until Aline Alzime canned two free throws 76 seconds later.

FC would hold the lead the rest of the way, but Shenandoah did cut its gap to two and had the ball in the final minute. The Hornets missed three jumpers on its next two possessions and Ferrum made three of its final four attempts at the line to seal the victory.

Freshman Alicia Sanders (Wardensville, W. Va./East Hardy) led all scorers with 24 points while Alizme had 21 for the hosts.
