WINCHESTER, Va. - The SU women's field hockey team extended its school record unbeaten streak to three games Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 victory over Washington & Jefferson.

Shenandoah (3-5-1) got the win by scoring the first two goals of the game and then holding on as the Presidents (5-6) rallied with a goal of their own with just over 10 minutes to play.

Freshman Danielle Ridgeway (Thurmont, Md./Garrett County) got things started with an unassisted goal in the 25th minute before Kelly Matagiese (Cape May, N.J./Lower Cape May) tallied what proved to be the game winner 18 minutes into the second half.

Matagiese goal, her third of the season, came off an Erin Flannelly (Cape May, N.J./Lower Cape May) penalty corner. The shot was just the third of the game for SU, but the second to find the back of the net.

Amanda Celaschi rallied W&J; with an unassisted goal of her own seven minutes later, but it was not enough as Shenandoah won its second straight home game.
