DANVILLE, Va. – Shenandoah University fell below .500 in USA South Conference play for the first time this season as league power Averett took a 3-1 (30-14, 28-30, 30-16, 30-26) decision Friday evening.
Shenandoah (13-13 overall, 4-5 USA South) extended the match to four games, but Averett (20-9, 9-1) kept its chances alive for a regular season title with the hard-fought victory.
Freshman Jennifer Thompson (Forest, Va./Jefferson Forest) led SU with eight kills and 15 assists while Christina Greene (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) added nine digs.

Shenandoah continues USA South play Saturday at Methodist. SU will face the host Lady Monarchs and Peace College in a tri-match.
