WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's soccer team posted its third straight shutout Tuesday afternoon in a 3-0 non-league victory over Hood College.
Shenandoah (5-7-1) got goals in the 47th, 56th and 63rd minutes to win its second straight game and extend its unbeaten streak to three. Hood falls to 6-4-1 with the loss.
Freshman Nikki Leonard (Manasquan, N.J./Manasquan) tallied what proved to be the game winner when she scored unassisted just under two minutes into the second half.
Classmates Kim Smith (Odenton, Md./Arundel) and Caitlin Woodruff (Waynesboro, Va./Western Albermarle) added insurance goals in the 56th and 63rd minutes, respectively. Leonard also assisted on Woodruff's tally.
Keeper Lauren Elliott (Lynchburg, Va./EC Glass), who was named USA South Rookie of the Week this week, did not have to make a save in picking up her sixth shutout of the season.
