Wesleyan Comes Back Against Men's Soccer

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - Shenandoah University scored the game's opening goal against No. 19 in the nation NC Wesleyan Saturday afternoon, but the Bishops rallied for three second half tallies in a 3-1 USA South Conference victory Saturday morning.

Shenandoah (4-6-1 overall, 1-3 USA South) got a Stewart Wetmore (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg) goal in the 32nd minute, but Wesleyan (10-1-2, 5-0) got the winning margin with two quick goals early in the second half.

The Bishops tied the game at the 54:22 mark when Salvador Benitez converted a Mario Acosta feed, and then struck again barely 90 seconds later. Acosta fed Davori Husadzinovic at 55:58, giving the home team what proved to be the winning goal.

SU keeper Kyle Hodges (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) made eight saves in the loss. Wesleyan outshot the Hornets 21-9.

Freshman Alfred Smith (Alexandria, Va./Annandale) assisted on Wetmore's tally.
