NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Fourth seeded Christopher Newport used one goal in each half Tuesday evening to eliminate No. 5 Shenandoah from the USA South Conference Men's Soccer Tournament.

CNU (11-6-2) will advance to face top seeded NC Wesleyan on Friday after scoring goals in the 24th and 74th minutes in the quarterfinals against SU (7-8-2).

The win also gives the Captains a sweep of the season series between the two schools. Christopher Newport had defeated the Hornets 2-1 in Winchester on October 6.

Kenny Huttman got what proved to be the game winner in the 24th minute when he drove Rob Leadbetter's corner kick past SU keeper Kyle Hodges (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville).

Nick Yannitello gave his side an insurance goal midway through the second when he finished off a double assist from Steve Keller and Billy Lucas. CNU outshot the Hornets 16-3, including 7-1 following the break.

Hodges posted three saves in each period.
