WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University opened its 2004 field hockey season in a fine fashion Wednesday afternoon with a 1-0 victory over Wilson College.

Shenandoah (1-0) got what proved to be the winning goal when sophomore Erika Bradd (Front Royal, Va./Warren County) took a feed from freshman Lindsey Collison (Bridgeville, Del./Woodbridge) and ripped home her first collegiate goal in the 8th minute.

SU held Wilson (0-1) to just three shots on goal in the contest; Hornets goalie Wendy Taylor (Cape May, N.J./Lower Cape May) made two saves in registering her second career shutout. Taylor shut Hood College out in the 2003 season finale and has now gone nearly 160 consecutive minutes without allowing a goal.
