LYNCHBURG, Va. - Lynchburg College won the battle of the field hockey Hornets Sunday afternoon, defeating visiting Shenandoah 5-1.
LC (4-1) scored in the 13th minute on a Kelly Graybeal goal and led 2-0 at break before pulling away in the second against SU (1-3).
Freshman Danielle Ridgeway (Thurmont, Md./Garrett County) got Shenandoah's only goal on an unassisted tally in the 58th minute.
SU keeper Wendy Taylor (Cape May, N.J./Lower Cape May) made a school record 15 saves in the losing effort.
