Men Can't Hold Against Ferrum

FERRUM, Va. - Coach Rob Kulton's men's soccer team got the initial goal its USA South Conference matchup with Ferrum Saturday afternoon, but the Panthers rallied for two second half goals in a 2-1 victory.

Sophomore Mohamed Toure gave Shenandoah (4-5, 0-2 USA South) the initial goal of the game when he converted a penalty kick in the 25th minute.

Unfortunately for the visitors, Ferrum (7-3, 1-1) answered with a pair of goals after the halftime intermission.

The Panthers tied the game at 1-1 on an unassisted goal by Jason Haynes in the 55th minute before John Westgate netted the game winner 23 minutes later.

The game was an extremely physical one with 20 fouls called and 10 yellow cards issued. SU was forced to play the final 5:24 a man down after sophomore Jace Kenny picked up his second yellow of the contest.

Hornets keeper Chris Peter made seven saves while Ryan Schilling stopped six for FC. Ferrum outshot Shenandoah 18-12 for the game.
