FREDERICK, Md. - The Shenandoah University women's soccer team snapped its two game losing streak Thursday afternoon with a 3-1 victory over host Hood College.
The win also guarantees the Hornets (8-5-1) their best record since the 1998 team finished 12-6-1.Â
Coach Miranda Armstrong's side got all of the goals it would need in the first half with tallies in the 20th and 37th minutes. AfterÂ
Lauren Mondeauopened the scoring with a goal off of anÂ
Amanda Wade assist,Â
Emily Riggins clinched it 17 minutes later.
Riggins took a cross fromÂ
Sabrina Zehr just outside the 18-yard box and lofted a shot just over the head of Blazers keeper Lindsay Brickwedde and in for the clinching goal.
Wade closed out the scoring with six minutes remaining with an unassisted tally.
Complete statistics will be available Friday morning.
Shenandoah travels to Ferrum College Saturday afternoon for a 2:00 USA South Conference match.
