FERRUM, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's soccer team virtually assured itself of a home game at the USA South Conference Tournament with a 3-1 victory at Ferrum College Saturday afternoon.
Shenandoah (8-5-1, 3-1 USA South) wasted little time in jumping on the Lady Panthers (6-7-1, 1-3). The Hornets scored just 3:01 into the contest and led 3-0 by the end of the first half to secure their first win over FC in three seasons.
JuniorÂ
Leanne Gibson gave coach Miranda Armstrong's squad a lead it would not relinquish with her goal at the 3:01 mark off of aÂ
Renee Summerson assist, and then freshmanÂ
Amanda Wade tallied what proved to be the game-winner 25 minutes later.
Wade took a feed from classmateÂ
Krista Krohnemann and blasted home the game clinching goal from just outside the 18-yard box.
SU closed out its scoring with 55 seconds remaining in the first half when Summerson converted aÂ
Megan Ross corner kick from right in front.
SophomoreÂ
Lauren Elliott made two saves in the win.

The Hornets are off until hosting Methodist next Saturday in another USA South Conference contest.
