Volleyball Wins USA South Match

WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University started its final weekend of USA South Conference volleyball regular season play with a 3-1 victory over NC Wesleyan Friday night.

The Hornets (8-19, 2-10 USA South) lifted themselves out of a seventh place tie in the league with the 30-27, 30-32, 30-28, 30-23 win over the Lady Bishops (15-15, 4-8).

Sophomore Michelle Chandler had a second best in school history 28 kills to key the victory. She also was one of five SU players to register double digit digs with 14. Chandler's classmates,  Jennifer Thompson and Alex Hamlin added 28 and 16 digs, respectively. Thompson also had 15 kills.

Freshman Catherine Beuerle also had a season high 49 assists.

SU completes regular season play Saturday by hosting a quad match. The Hornets take on Methodist at 9:30 a.m. and Peace at 7:30 p.m.
