WINCHESTER, Va. - Chowan College used a late goal Wednesday afternoon to slip by host Shenandoah University 1-0 in non-conference women's soccer action.
Chowan (4-5-1) bested its former USA South Conference opponent by getting an unassisted goal from Rachel Johnson with just under 10 minutes to play in the contest.
Johnson scored the goal when she gathered in a cross that SU (7-4-1) keeper
Lauren Elliott could not handle and chipped the ball into the open net.
The game was very close throughout as the Lady Braves held just a 6-4 advantage in shots taken and both keepers made three saves.
Chowan did have four of the five corner kicks in the contest.
