WASHINGTON, D.C. - Shenandoah University jumped out to an early lead Friday night in its women's basketball opener against host Catholic University, but the host Cardinals rallied for a 71-52 victory.

The win also puts Catholic (1-0) into the championship game of its own tournament on Saturday at 4:00. The Cardinals will take on Baruch, who defeated McDaniel in the night's first contest.

Shenandoah (0-1) and the Lady Terror meet in Saturday's 2:00 consolation game.

Sophomore Whitney French led the Hornets with 11 points while junior Alicia Sanders added 10. SU shot 18 for 50 (36.0 percent) for the contest and saw CUA grab 38 of the game's 67 rebounds.
